Reid Duke is the first player signed by the new NHL franchise in Las Vegas, the Vegas Golden Knights.
LAS VEGAS – With a little more than half a year before the start of the 2017-2018 NHL season, the Vegas Golden Knights have signed their first player.
Free agent forward Reid Duke from the Brandon Wheat Kings of the Western Hockey League earns the distinction of the first player transaction in the team’s history. He was signed to a three-year entry level contract.
According to a press release, the 21-year-old made 35 goals and 32 assists during the current season with the Brandon Wheat Kings. The 6′, 190lb. native of Calgary, Alberta was originally drafted by the Minnesota Wild in the 2014 NHL Entry Draft.
